Earth Light is healing and regerating:
Breath in the rich, luminous magnatism of Mother Earth - In thru the nose, out thru the nose.

Moon Light is soothing and purifying:
Breath in the gentle, soothing light of Sister Moon - In thru the nose, out thru the mouth.

Sun Light is uplifting and transforming:
Breath in the radiant, Strong light of Brother Sun - In thru the mouth, out thru the nose.

Star Light is expansive and freeing:
Breath in the all-pervading, infinite light of Father Cosmos - In thru the mouth, out thru the mouth.

We Embrace Everything

A Stream of silver clouds gives way to clear blue sky.
In Meditation we must let go of everything,
this is called becoming empty;
Then, as infinite space, we embrace all things.

We all Live Together

Compassion, Consideration, Kindness, Respect
Are all a part of each other.

Mary and Amin

Sleepless at 4am, I became absorbed into a state related to the most recent change to our spiritual lineage - that being when Mary Inayat transcended this Earth to join Sufi Amin within the Shajara (family tree) of the Fraternity of Light.

What happened was a much more tangible and accessible feeling of the presence of the One Reality, of its Oneness, of an embrace that was both Love and Light.  I believe this is due to something that happened when the Divine Feminine or Shakti, embodied by Mary Inayat, mingled with the Divine Masculine or Shiva, embodied by Sufi Amin within our Shajara.

It was like when humidity is added to temperature - the feeling permeates to the bone. Temperature without humidity is one thing but add humidity and you add presence to something all pervading!

Such are the musing of the Mudzub.

What you Need is What You Breathe - Part 2

Now we add Visualization along with the Breath

EARTH Element
If you need to be able to keep your concentration on a task or you need 'staying power' - call upon the Earth Element for help:

Breathe in thru the Nose and out thru the Nose, as you do visualize or feel yourself breathing in and out through the soles of your feet and base of the spine; visualize yourself as a tree deeply rooted in Mother Earth.

WATER Element
If you need to find a way around an obstacle or blockage in your life (mental, emotional or physical) - call upon the Water Element for help:

Breathe in thru the Nose and out thru the Mouth, as you do visualize or feel yourself as a stream or river flowing around all obstacles as it continuously makes its way toward its goal.

FIRE Element
If you need to expand your thinking, rise above a situation, or be able to look at a situation with a 'birds eye view' - call upon the help of the Fire Element:

Breathe in thru the Mouth and out thru the Nose, as you do visualize or feel your consciousness expanding without measure as if you were on a rocket ship, breaking all confinements and limitations, mental, emotional or physical, or perhaps like a great cosmic Sun radiating unlimited light in all directions.

AIR Element
If you need to let go of something, to be free of a burden, to rise above the denseness of the Earth - call up the help of the Air Element:

Breathe in thru the Mouth and out thru the Mouth, as you do feel consciousness expanding into the cosmos and all mental, emotional, physical weight completely falling away, let everything go as you feel yourself becoming as light and free as air; allow yourself to just completely let go feel totally free of all heaviness and burdens.

Note: These visualizations are just suggestions to give you an idea, you can improvise.

What you need is what you breathe

As you face the challenges of life...

If strength, stability, tolerance or patience you need, the Earth Breath is how to breathe:
in thru the nose and out thru the nose.

If soothing jangled nerves, flow, flexibility or healing you need, the Water Breath is how to breathe: in thru the nose and out thru the mouth.

If power, change, or a new perspective you need , the Fire Breath is how to breathe: in thru the mouth and out thru the nose.

If lightness, freedom, or vastness you need the Air Breath is how to breathe: in thru the mouth and out thru the mouth.

Note: Breathe the breath patten until you feel your energy shifting or at least 5, 7, or 11 times.

Using The Service Circle Ceremony in Times of Tragedy

On a daily basis, the ever presence of news media brings into our own homes the tragedies that befall our fellow human beings.  We witness them with graphic clarity to the point where, at times, we become numb. We become numb as a coping mechanism, for these tragedies do cause us pain - how can we cope otherwise, how can we help - we feel there is little we can do even though we may wish to help.

Never under estimate the power of your heart felt and focused prayers for the victims of these tragedies; never under estimate the power of God's blessings and light if you call upon it to help these people. We do not see the result, we cannot change what has happened, we still cannot fathom why it happens but yet our prayers do help. Sometimes we think this is too small an effort, too easy, but it is something we can offer, it is something we can do.

Yesterday, as I witnessed the Colorado floods taking away peoples cars, homes, lives, I sat to pray.  I felt too small in my personal prayers, I wanted to join with some greater force to send blessings to these people.

I found my desire granted when I called upon the Service Circle Ceremony and used the entire power of that cosmic circle of blessings to focus on the people and victims of the Colorado flooding.

The post that gives the Service Circle Ceremony is here: http://nurhayy.blogspot.com/2012/07/the-service-circle-for-individual.html

The last of the 4 invocatory verses of this ceremony says: "and with this joining form a universal temple for the service and blessing of all beings."  However it was granted that we could change that verse for large scale tragedies to focus on the victims of the tragedy.  Thus I was able to change that last verse to: "and with this joining form a universal temple for service and blessing of the victims of the Colorado floods."

Auric Modus Operandi

Our Aura has both a passive and active modus-operandi.

When our Aura is passive we receive impressions of both the outer and inner worlds. The outer world is defined by our physical surroundings, the inner world is initially defined by all our relations but is really limitless and unbounded.  Using the dust free passive Aura as a looking glass, the Mystic knows both seen and the unseen.

When our Aura is reflective it radiates impressions into both the outer and inner worlds.  Using the reflective Aura is how the Mystic works in changing atmospheres and influencing situations - Inshallah, as God Wills.  This is one means of providing spiritual service.  The Aura is made reflective by projecting or holding an impression or divine quality in it.

These abilities are part of the Mastery learned on the Mystical or spiritual path through the practices of concentration.

Mantras or Wazifa
The Divine Quality for Mastery is Ya Wali and the Divine Quality to subtly perceive both the seen and unseen worlds is Ya Wajid, But these Mantras alone are of no value without the strength gained from practicing concentration, contemplation.

Changing Atmospheres

Even the mighty Sun
Takes time to dissolve the morning fog;
So to do our actions,
in changing an atmosphere from negative to positive,
Take time.

Nourishing the Body with Light

The cells of our body need food and water to be healthy and regenerate, but they also need light! In their deep substructure, our cells are made of pure light. Therefore feeding ourselves with Light provides additional deep nourishment to the body as well as the heart and mind, that helps maintain balance which is health.

It is nice to drink in different qualities of light: Sun Light, Moon Light, Star Light, Etheric Light. Sun for illumination, power and vitality; moon for healing emotions and heart; stars for cosmic consciousness and expansiveness of mind; etheric for physical healing.

  • To drink Sun light, stand in the Sun and feel the pours of your skin and cells of your body opening like windows - feel the light coming in through all those windows filling the entire aura and body with light. As you exhale feel this light filling all the cells of your body.

  • To drink moon light, stand in the moon light and completely relax.  Feel your heart center, like a moon flower, opening to the light of the Moon, feel the moon light entering your aura and then your body through the heart center filling your heart and whole body. As you exhale feel this light filling all the cells of your body.

  • To drink in star light, celestial light, stand outside under the stars, using your eyes, allow them to be receptacles of the star light; breathe in through your eyes the star light - not just the focalized light of a single star but the light between the stars - the starlight that fills the entire cosmos. As you exhale feel this light filling all the cells of your body.

  • To drink the etheric light, feel your Aura, the light bubble that surrounds and interpenetrates your body, being filled with light. With eyes closed, feel your Aura being filled with light and growing fuller and brighter. Feel this light completely illuminating your etheric substructure which is your etheric body. Your etheric body is an exact double your physical body but made of gossamer threads of light. As you exhale feel this light filling all the cells of your body.

As a final stage, enjoy the feeling of a very great flow of light coming down from
on-high and washing through your aura and body, purifying and carrying all impurities, imbalances, and heavy energy into Mother Earth who receives it as a gift to be recycled. Leave nothing in your aura and etheric body but light.

The Importance of Praise

All Nature praises the Creator by its very existence!
Winds and breezes, storms, clouds, trees, birds, bees, rain, flowers, sun, moon and stars all exist in a state of glorification, for existence inherently is the expression of divine love which is all glorious and praiseworthy.

Yet no act of praise is more pleasing to the Divine Mother or Father than those that flow from our hearts, for they come from free will. It is only in humanity that the Divine takes Self-Awareness and only to humanity does God give the power of self-awareness and co-creation.

True Praise of the Divine is so special in us humans because we were born into life veiled from our divine inheritance and must reawaken to it - this reawakening is God's Self-Realization and our God-Realization.  One word of sincere praise from our awakening hearts echoes through out the universe, causes the angels to dance in ecstasy and exults nature.

When praise arises in us for the Divine, when we exult in the glory and beauty of creation, when we offer thanks for Gods Mercy and bountiful gifts, that praise is heard by the Universe, by the angels, by the Prophets, by all the illuminated souls, by the Divine Mother and by God for we are all one being.

Praise is a selfless act.

Although it seems, at first, that we are praising something other than us, in fact, Praise is an act of Pure Love, and Love always unifies - so we praise our very self in the form of the universe, the glorious face of the Divine Mother, of our creator.

When we praise God, God praises us.

So arise each morning knowing or remembering that you are a gift to God and a gift from God!  Offer a word or thought of praise, thanks or prayer and have faith that as ye sing so you become.

A Powerful Practice of Praise is to
Breathe, say or sing:

Subhanallah, Alhumdulilah, La Illaha Illah La, Allahhu Akbar.

It Means...
Glory to all that exists within and without, seen and unseen, known and unknown, in expression and in silence;

Praise to all that exists, and is yet to exist, praise to all creation, praise to God, praise to our highest selves;

There is no Reality but God, the One Reality;

God is the Great, the one and only power that brings forth and governs all creation and yet is beyond all creation - the King of Kings most merciful and compassionate.

Sufi Amin gives a Secret for Self-Realization

My Sufi Teacher Amin once told me he entered the state of Self-Realization while repeating the mantra Tat Tvam Asi, Tat Tvam Asi, Tat Tvam Asi, meaning "That Thou Art, Thou Art All Things".

He said he was sitting on a part bench one day overlooking Lake Erie, repeating this Mantra over and over - all of a sudden the great reality of this Mantra - "That Thou Art, Thou are all things" - pulled him into its reality and realization.

Then he said that once you have had the realization of a Mantra its yours to keep, nothing can take it away from you.

He was very fond of the repeating what is called the Sacred Vakya Vrittis, intended to give direct perception of God: Aham Brahmasmi (I am Brahman), Tat Tvam Asi (That Am I), and in which he also included Shivoham (I am Shiva).

He said these were all great Mantras of Self-Realization and so they are!

Aham Brahmasmi - seeing God in Everything

My Sufi teacher Amin once gave me this wonderful practice for seeing God everything.

He said repeat Aham Brahmasmi
as much as you can,
it means “I am Brahman”.

As you repeat it, be aware that everything is Brahman, God:
  • Every sound you hear is Brahman: car horns, people talking, fan motors, birds, every sound is Brahman;
  • Everything you see is Brahman: every color, the trees, flowers, the sun, the blue ski, the faces of people, cars, buildings, all Brahman;
  • Every smell you smell is Brahman: perfume, grass, food smells, manure, garbage, salt water, it’s all Brahman;
  • Eveything you touch is Brahman: the cell phone, the touch of cement, the handle of a knife or spoon, the coolness of steel, the warmth of a washcloth, the feel of water in the shower, its all Brahman;
  • Everything you feel is Brahman: the joy, the sadness, the pain, the fear, the confidence, the worry, the anger, the frustration, don’t dwell on it but know it is all Brahman for everything is God.
  • Every thought you think is Brahman: every idea, every judgment, every concept, your intuitions, your inspiration, it’s all Brahman, everything is Brahman, there is only God, there is nothing that exists except God and your very being is God, you are a living aspect of Brahman.

Know that All is Brahman, Aham Bramasmi, Aham Brahmasmi, Aham Brahmasmi.

Call & Response with God

This is a practice of ‘call and response’ with Allah.  One calls upon Allah’s quality and then one watches and/or listens receptively to see or hear the response.

It is almost unbelievable, but Allah does respond through the life that is around one at the moment.  This practice deeply attunes us to the Divine Presence in Life.

To do this practice use one or all of the following 3 essential Illahis (divine names or qualities): Subhanallah, Alhumdulilah, Allahhu-Akbar.

The form of the Practice:

Exhaling say silently or aloud 3 times: Subhanallah;
Then watch and listen for the Divine Glory that is manifesting around you.

Exhaling say silently or aloud 3 times: Alhumdulilah;
Then watch and listen for the Divine Praise and Exultation that is manifesting around you;

Exhaling say silently or aloud 3 times: Allahhu-Akbar;
Then watch and listen for the Divine Greatness, Grandeur or Power that is manifesting around you;

Perceiving the response is not a matter of using the mind but rather the heart – become receptive and let Allah’s response arise within the perception of one’s heart.
Allah answers your call with “beingness” not thoughts. This is quite a deep practice that compliments that of Shagal Alakasar given by Pir-O-Murshid Inayat Khan.

Note:
To enhance your ability to perceive Allah’s response, you can recite the following Wazifa 33 times:
Ya Sami – Ya BasirThe All Hearing and the All Seeing.

Breathing "Allah Hu"

 There are two ways to breathe Allah Hu. One will help you rise above the denseness of the earth’ by facilitating your attunement with the transcendental or cosmic dimension of your being; the other will help you manifest the Divine Presence in your being and life.

The First way:
Gently move your head down toward your physical heart while exhaling Allah deeply into the physical heart; then inhale Hu, as your head rises allow Hu to carry you on high, dissolving into the transcendental, all-pervading reality of Hu.

The Second way:
Inhale up through the top of the head into Allah, the One Reality; Exhale Hu deeply into either the physical heart or heart center.

Changing Karma

Karma, the linkage of Cause and Effect, comes from the actions of our past and present life. Some say we are bound by Karma and thus our life is limited. The Divine Being in us is not limited by the causal flows of Karma.

We can change the impact of past Karma by asking Forgiveness; We can cut the 'pre-configuration' of Karma by making a pledge to something greater, that counters its effect; we can make new Karma by taking new action.

Also, in addition to Karma, there is our Divine Purpose and the impact that actualizing our divine purpose has on evolution.  These are bound by Karma.

Finding Joy in turmoil

There is a joy within us that is always present and not diminished by the trials and challenges of life.

We need to drink from this spring of joy often to keep at bay the jackals of despondency, despair, depression, anger, jealousy, fear that sneaks in and eats away at our happiness, at our sense of the sacred in life.  This can be so, so hard during times when life feels like it is crushing us with crisis, hardship, loss, chaos, threat, illness, uncertainty, lack of flow, etc.

Of course, these are the hardest times to turn within; either to find time, or motivation or concentration or a quite space. For some reason these are the times we need it most but feel the least like drinking from this well of inner joy.  Yet, oddly, very oddly, if we somehow manage it, even in the most tangential of ways, it seems that there are unseen hands just waiting to hold us and love on us. If they catch just a glimpse of us turning away from the turmoil and toward them, they grab us, and the light and power of upliftment is there more than normal.  You may have felt this, or not, it doesn't matter for it happens all the same.

Such a draught of joy can be had in many ways: working in a garden, going to church, reading an uplifting book, singing inspiring songs, meditating, praying, saying an invocation, being with children, going to an inspiring seminar, listening to inspiring music or lectures, serving others, walking in nature -- what these all have in common is a momentary respite, a turning away from the hypnosis of our individual perception and toward something greater than ourselves - nature, oneness, wholeness, light, spirit, compassion.

The key is we must make that small effort to tip the scale toward spirit and away from the present situation. To let go, momentarily, of the trouble, pain, grief, sadness, crises to allow spirit to arise.  It does not have to be a huge or prolonged effort; just a little bit of regular effort is enough, for that Joy is always there with us - it never leaves and it is not dependent on outer circumstances.

You may not feel the effects of such actions immediately, and to be honest, they probably will not remove the present crisis or challenge, for these still need to be handled outwardly, but they will bring a new perspective, they will break down barriers and blockages and dear beloved ones of God, this makes all the difference!

For me personally, the easiest, most effortless, powerful means to open and shift my vibration, emotions and perceptions toward spirit are:

   1. Saying an invocatory prayer (Saum for example) I feel attuned to (an invocation or affirmation will help too).

   2. Singing or saying the Dhikr: La Illaha Illa Lahu; I also especially like to say La Illaha, La Illaha, La Illaha - meaning I surrender all limitation, negativity and turmoil in light.

   3. Reciting a Mantra such as: Ya Fatah - Ya Azim; or reciting a chant to a great being of compassion such as Tara: OM TARE TUTTARE TURE SVAHA.

   4. I always offer petitionary prayers from my heart to God for help.

   5. And I find doing the elemental breaths particularly powerful.

In each of these practices I don't let the state I'm in stop me, I don't worry if I'm worthy, a total mess or doing the practice right - I just do it, that's all. When I do it, I don't think about the meaning, I often do it out loud because I need the audible sound to help me focus. So the great thing is that none of these practices truly depend on me or the state of my mind, emotions or body - they work beyond the mind-mesh, beyond the walls of my limitation!

It is like a baby crying for their mother and the mother comes to help!

Remember Your Light

When in the company of others,
No matter who, nor what you are doing,
Simply remember your light
and will you become a lamp of Divine Light.
Remember your light is the from the Light of lights, and
Your presence will enable that light in all that is around you.
Then you are a giver of light, which is a gift from God.

May you be filled with light every moment of the day and night!

The Divine Words of Power that enable this potential are:
(Nur - Munawwir)
(Nur - Shahid)

Birthing a Sacred Civilation

My dear sister in spirit, Muhyia-Nur, eloquently speaks of the attunement of “Birthing a Sacred Civilization”:
“Birthing a Sacred Civilization is our attunement theme for 2013. I realize this sounds rather ambitious but it is true and aligned with the cosmic forces. The cosmos speaks to us of this new sacred civilization in every beam of light and every inch of soil. The teachings come directly from Mother Earth and Father Sun as they engage in the creative act of birthing consciousness in humanity. There is a more conscious way to life and we will discover it together. How can we be both the midwives and the beings who are birthed? The answer lies in our hearts, in the golden gleaming jewel of living light. We are engaged in conscious birthing into the unknown, for now. As our programming is freed up and our memories return, we'll remember how to make this journey. In one sense we move along and in another we center within to the living still point within the golden jewel of enlightenment. As you hear teachers speak this year you'll hear two fundamental teachings. "We are multi-dimensional beings living in many dimensions simultaneously" is one message and the other is, "There is only One Being and all that exists is One Being". These two messages merge into one understanding when we expand into a more ascended consciousness. It all depends on the viewpoint.”

I have found the practice of repeating and surrendering to the sacred name of God called: Ya Azim (the most high or all glorious) to facilitate within me a deep awakening of this sacredness that is behind the new civilization wanting to be birthed.

Ya Azim actualizes the divine presence.
According to the book “Physician of the Heart”, A most difficult part of human actualization is reaching the stage of being able to bring the structure of your inner realization into balance [I would say harmony] with the structure of your outward manifestation in the world.  This is the divine quality that is called on for this and for the accomplishment of extraordinary aims.”

So in these times, as light bearers, we are being called upon to do an extraordinary thing - to be 'birthers' our sacred civilization.

Two additional practices for constant upliftment are:

In the Sufi Tradition, a practice common in the Nakshibandi Tradition is to say the name Allah with every breath thus: Inhale ‘Al’ - exhale ‘lah’ in the physical heart (Qalbia).

A similar practice in the Aramaic Tradition as given by Dr. Neil Douglass-Klotz:
Using the Aramaic name of God Abwoon (Abvwoon) meaning “Our Father”: Inhale feeling the sound ‘Ah’ – exhale feeling the sound ‘bwoon’.

As you inhale, feel all newness and nourishment coming into the heart-lungs area. As you exhale, feel everything old, everything that wants to be released, leaving with the breath. Abwoon means “Our Father” in Aramaic but is much more as it is an expression of divine creation and blessing that emanates from all parenting.

Experiencing Turbulance?

Picture by Hamida
In Birthing a Sacred Civilization, we find ourselves in the times of a pivotal evolution. Transformation  and the resulting evolution will occur inwardly and outwardly to humanity.

Evolutionary growth is always accompanied by a punch of energy.  This energy is required for the necessary changes to occur. This is perceived as increased turbulence and it does require active work on our part to be able to adjust; by working toward adjustment we are facilitating our own birth and evolution and we are actively birthing a sacred civilization within and without.

The impulse for the change is Divine, it comes from the source of Truth as it manifests.
Our planet is so very special, it may be the only one like it in the Universe. A planet where the Divine Reality has given its will and power of creation into the hands of its sentient self!

All beings feel this energy, all are subjected to the transformation; some have been chosen, by their very self awareness, to be mid-wives.

If you choose you will be given the tools to be able to adjust and the skills to be a mid-wife, otherwise you would not have been accelerated.

Some Words of Power to help with this transformation

Salaam - Shahid (the wittness), Shalom - Shahid, Om Shanti, Shanti, Shanti - Peace, Peace, Peace.
To be the witness of Peace, by witnessing we bring Peace to our lives and where ever we go. This peace will give us the balance we need to keep a clear vision in turbulent times.

Ya Muhyi (the bringer of life) - Ya Mubdi (to initiate something new).
These together allow us to give birth to new life!

Ya Huk (Truth) - Ya Mawjud (Mauwjood, the Existenciator).
Make God a reality and God will make you the Truth!

The Servant

Amidst the crowd gathered
I was the first to take the bowl of poison offered
and drink,
Afterwards you gave me golden serpent arm bands,
I knew they marked your slaves and took them gladly,
For thus was I able to see and cast out the demons
hidden among the people.

Then I saw myself hung on the cross,
it seemed like years,
 In tears I was taken down, each nail I felt withdrawn.

Laying helpless in your arms
I die that I may live
Only for you.

Oh Light Bearer

Remember oh lover of light... When skies grow dark, every light shines brighter! YOU are a light in the darkness, shining like the Moon.
