Be Still and Know that I Am There

Who is there? Not a seperate deity called God, but an inseperable, secret part of you - it is "I" that AM there, always and forever. "I am nearer to you than yourself to yourself." - Rumi Tis I the eternal, tis I the All in All, tis I the all powerful, all knowing, all peaceful, all purposeful, all living. Throughout the universe I sing:  La Ana Illa Ana; Tat Tvam Asi - No I but I; I am that I am! Ah but no searching will find this "I", no amount of seeking reveal this "I" - you do not have to search for this "I", for I AM THERE when YOU ARE NOT, when you are still.  "Self-effacement does not in any way lessen; it only makes one limitless." - Inayat Khan Surrender all that you think you are to find what you really are. Oh Moinuddin, remember the Sufi is the one who is not!  The One Reality whispers to us through its servants thus: I am He whom I love, and He whom I love is I. We are two spirits dwelling in on

Mystical Understanding of the Service Circle Ceremony

Visualizations that build the Sanctuary  Invoked during the Service Circle Ceremony The overall visualization is of building a cosmic sanctuary of light of cosmic proportions and which over-arches the whole Earth or even further. 1.       As we join our hands and feel our feet grounded, we are forming the strong and lasting bricks and mortar of the base of the sanctuary and we solidly ground it to Mother Earth. 2.       As we open and join hearts we form an all-embracing container or accommodation which is the vessel and ascending walls and flying buttresses of the sanctuary reaching up from Earth toward the Heavens. 3.       As we join our souls in the Unity of God or the One Reality, we form the highest arches of the sanctuary extending up from our fontanels or crown centers, first uniting with each other and then uniting in one all-pervading point that is called the Universel. Thus connecting Earth to Heaven and Heaven to Earth. 4.       This completes the building of t

Individual Service Circle Ceremony

This a group practice I've modified so it can also be used as an individual practice.  It has the power to reach far and wide. It is a collective attunement formed by linking with the Sister-Brotherhood of Illuminated Souls to build an accommodation or sanctuary for the service and blessing of all beings. The temple herein created overarches the whole Earth and becomes an amplifier of the blessings, prayers and well-wishes placed within it.   Pir-O-Murshid Inayat Khan says of such an accommodation: “Thus accommodation is not only a need but it is indispensable; nothing can be born, composed, constructed, or molded without its accommodation. The Sufis have called this accommodation the temple…” Build the temple or sanctuary by visualizing and Invoking the following: 1.       In the One, United with all the Illuminated Souls, We Hold Aloft the Light of Truth.    (feel yourself connecting with all the illuminated souls) 2.       Together we join our hands of service with each

Beloved Lord, Almighty God Send thy Peace That my heart may open To thy divine presence In all things. Amen

What do you mean "Let Go of Self"?

In spiritual circles it is often said to "let go of self".  I actually do not think YOU can let go of YOURSELF - I think instead that you should rejoice and enjoy being who your are!  The question of course is, as the catapiller said to Alice: WHO ARE YOU? The real you is a constellation of divine qualities continuously expressing themselves through some amount of conditioning - mental concepts, expectations, emotional habits, life roles, etc.  We don't have to try and become our real self, rather as my teacher Amin used to say: "we just have to get out of the road of ourself trying to happen".  This is a key aspect of awakening ourselves and the process of "getting out of the road of ourself" is the letting go referred to in spiritual circles.  Actually much of it is an inherent process (albeit slow) of ones evolutionary growth while living on the planet, but there are so many meditation and spiritual practices that facilitate this, that allow u

Resurexit Christus - Alleluia, Al Humdulilah

The real meaning of crucifixion is to crucify the false self, that the true self may rise. As long as the false self is not crucified, the true self is not realized. Inayat Khan No Crucifixion without Resurection No Death without Rebirth Not Fana without Baqa Always taking us higher and higher - Ya Azim, Ya Azim, Ya Azim Effortless flow as we learn to let go - transition is transformation. La Hu Illah Hu - no Hu but Hu La Anta, Illah Anta - no you but you La Ana Illah Ana - no I but I The soul of Christ is the life of the universe. The image of Christ is in the Church, the book of Christ is with the clergy, the love of Christ is in the heart of his worshipper, but the light of Christ shines through the illuminated souls. - Inayat Khan

The Power Behind of a Light Bearer Pt. 4 - Single Mindedness

Note: this is a long blog but it pulls a lot of valuable information together The topic of single-mindedness naturally follows from concentration; it is actually a specific case of concentration. Concentration gives us strength and the ability to hold focus but it is not "single-mindedness". For example, with our new found ability to concentrate, we might choose to focus on many things at once, we call this multi-tasking and it is considered a valuable skill. However, if do not also cultivate the quality of single-mindedness you will not have the depth of focus that allows you to pierce the veils of conditioned perception, these veils are what lock our thinking, feeing, and action into a limited scope of expression. A person may practice concentration for a certain time in the day, and then if throughout the day he keeps on changing his mind from one thing to the other, he will not be able to accomplish concentration in a thousand years.  Single-mindedness is the secret of c
