The PRAYER for PEACE
Hazrat Pir-O-Murshid Inayat Khan

Send Thy peace, O Lord, which is perfect and everlasting, that our souls may radiate peace.

 “Raise my consciousness to Thy harmony and peace. Let me become a perfect instrument to serve Thy divine cause.”

Send Thy Peace, O Lord, that we may think, act and speak harmoniously.

 “My spirit is productive of divine Harmony. I spread peace and keep balance.”

Send Thy Peace, O Lord, that we may be contented and thankful for Thy bountiful gifts.

 “I seek my life’s happiness in God.”

Send Thy Peace, O Lord, that amidst our worldly strife we may enjoy Thy bliss.

 “God, send Thy joy and peace in my life. Bless my life with every Bliss.”

Send Thy Peace, O Lord, that we may endure all, tolerate all in the thought of Thy grace and mercy.

 “Fortify me against the jarring influences and strengthen me in my struggle of life. Bless me with providence and illuminate me with Thy divine light.”

Send Thy Peace, O Lord, that our lives may become a divine vision, and in Thy light all darkness may vanish.

 “My heart is fortified and is being filled with the light of God. Inspire me, illuminate me and make my vision clear.”

Send Thy Peace, O Lord, our Father and Mother, that we Thy children on earth may all unite in one family.

 “Let Thy divine blessing flow through any heart to all Thy people in the world.”

Amen

29th URS of Sufi Amin Richard Macko

29
Yesterday, July 25, 2012 marked the 29th Urs of our beloved spiritual teacher and guide Sufi Amin, and I know God’s blessing is, was and always will be with him.

(An URS is a celebration of the life and transcendence of a great Spiritual Teacher or Master)

Amin was an extraordinary being who reached Self-Realization at an early age. He remembered his past lives as well as the past lives of those he took as students.

I remember that Swami Rama of the Himalayas once told him that as a yogi in a past life, his cave was just across the valley where Swami Rama’s had been. Amin once told me that he and I had been together through many lifetimes, and he also would say to me from time to time, “you must work harder, you have not yet reached the stage of realization you were at in your past life.”  Upon retrospect, this also helped me understand why, when I met him for the first time, he look at me and literally said: “There you are, I have been waiting for you for a long time, are you finally ready to get going?” As an adept of the Science of the Breath, Amin could readily read the future of an almost any event or activity just by the condition of the breath; I remember him once remarking that something was going to end in the life of Prime Minister Begin because when he saw him on TV his breath went into to Kemal State.  Amin would always know our thoughts, and this made being his student quite challenging because you could never hide anything from him, but he also always knew what you needed.  One day, when I had no money he just walked into our kitchen and gave me 50$ and said, “go buy a tire”… I never even hinted to him that I had been worrying over replacing the flat tire because I had no money!  He was a great healer and he had the ability to heal at a distance - broken bones, cuts, burses, the burses and cuts would heal so fast that they seemed to disappear before your eyes!  Most special was that he was always aware of the unseen beings, so many times at Zikr he would tell us not to move after it was over because one great being or another was in the room and giving a blessing – after he called our attention to it we of course could then feel that presence.

Amin’s real blessing, however, was his Love and Faith in making the very powerful practices and teachings from the great schools of mysticism available to “Humankind the Great Orphan” in a way that could be understood and used. This was the mission God had given him – to ‘bring the life transforming teachings and practices of Self-Realization out of the cave and into people’s everyday lives.’  He gave his whole life to this work, this is what he taught us as his students, and this is why he founded the Fraternity of Light.  He knew these practices could completely change lives for the better, that they could empower us and unlock potentialities in the human soul that would transform life into a “Rainbow of Miracles”.  This is also why he loved the Sufi Message of Hazrat Inayat Khan, because it came from the same divine desire and intention!  The first evening I came to study with Amin, he pulled up in a white van and said “get in, we have work to do”. I then proceeded to go with him has he taught 4 Life Long Learning classes in one evening, he was tireless in giving the Message of God to others!  He also gave so many wonderful seminars, making some of the deepest teachings of mysticism understandable and applicable to everyday life. As I teach meditation, to this day I teach primarily Amin’s practices because people literally eat them up! They are so fun and easy to use and understand and yet behind each is a deep mystical principle.

Dear Beloved Amin, Pir, Master, Guru, Murshid, spiritual guide - I offer my reverence, homage and gratitude for your love in my life; you put my life on track and guided me to find its purpose. I pray I may be with you again in coming lifetimes and until then I will do my best, inadequate as it is, to continue to share your wonderful teachings of "Opening the Door to Life" with the world!

Song of the Mureed
(a few of the poems I composed when I was the mureed of Murshid Amin)

I.
      Said the Murshid:
      Give me thy hand and I will walk with thee through the valley of death,
      That thou might know, as I know,  life everlasting,
      For I was born that thou may have eternal life.

II.
       At thy Sama,
       When I feel myself as a drop in the ocean of your heart,
       Wherein the whole universe is reflected,
       Then truly do I know there is only One Being.

 And in the embrace of thy ecstasy I become,
       All the rhythms, and all the birth, and all the growth, all the death and all the love of life.

III.
        Ya Quddus, Ya Quddus
        Sings the mureed’s heart
        In the presence of the murshid
             Eyes attentive,
             Lips closed,
             Heart Open.

 Ya Quddus, Ya Quddus
       For through the murshid the most holy one is present.
       Ya Quddus, Ya Quddus
       The murshid is the sacred gate of God’s light upon Earth,
       The answer to the yearning of the mureed’s heart and soul.

        Veiled to the world, the murshid becomes unveiled to the mureed
       And thereby ushers the mureed into the Divine Presence,
       Ya Quddus, Ya Quddus

IV.
        Beloved Murshid
        Thy humanity calls my soul to Earth,
        And thy divinity transforms
        Earth into Heaven.

The Service Circle for Individual Attunement

This collective attunment is offered in the spirit of universal kinship, unity and interbeing for the service and blessing of all. It builds an etheric accommodation or sanctuary that acts as a conductor, protector and amplifier of the blessings and wishes placed within it. The Sufi Master Hazrat Inayat Khan says of such an accommodation: “An accommodation is not only a need but it is indispensable; nothing can be born, composed, constructed, or molded without its accommodation.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1.      Set sacred space with this Universal Invocation:
Toward the One, The perfection of Love, Harmony and Beauty, The Only Being United with all the illuminated souls who form the embodiment of the master and the spirit of guidance.
2.      You may also add the invocation of the Light Bearer:
a.      In the One, United with all the Illuminated Souls, I will hold Aloft the Light of Truth.
3.      Then repeat and feel or envision a temple being built that overarches the entire world:
a.      Together we join our hands of service with each other and with all beings of service; (this builds the strong base of the temple on Earth)
b.     Together we join our hearts of compassion with each other and with all beings of compassion; (this builds the walls of the temple reaching up toward heaven)
c.      Together we join our souls in the Unity of God; (this forms the great dome of the temple and connects it to Heaven)
d.     And with this joining form a universal temple for the service and blessing of all beings. (this instantiates the temple)
At this point one feels the sanctuary over the whole Earth reaching to the highest heavens and being held by the circle.
5.      Now offer into the sanctuary your blessings, wishes, thoughts, prayers, visualizations, intend to be of service and blessing to humanity and all beings. Also allow a silent moment for any etheric beings who have joined with you to also make an offering. Complete this by saying: Inshallah” or “As God Wills”.
6.      End the attunement with the last verse of the Prayer for Peace:
“Send Thy Peace, O Lord, our Father and Mother, that we Thy children on Earth may all unite in one Family.”
Pray for the World
We are often appalled by the tragedy and suffering we see in life... maybe we feel angry about it, maybe helpless, maybe afraid that "it" will happen to us, or grateful that "it" has not happened to us.
Abdul Qadir Gilani (AQG) says in the Futuh al-Ghaib (Revelations of the Unseen): "He [Allah] does not do anything without any meaning and does not create anything without any purpose or in a playful manner."  We most likely cannot see the meaning or purpose BUT we can still participate in alleviating suffering through mystic action. Verily, "God gives power and assistance towards truth and mercy." - AQG
What are a few of these mystic actions?
1. Pray from the Heart. Centering in the Heart, pray for others, pray for the world, pray for what is causing pain in your heart.  Mystic Prayer creates a living relationship with the Divine. "He will accept your prayer in its appointed time and at the end of its appointed term and when He wills... and do not get exhausted in your prayer, for verily if you do not gain you do not lose anything either." AQG
2. The "Service Circle" (see next blog) as an individual active prayer.
3. Washing the world in Light.
Take a cosmic perspective and see the world before you as a beautiful blue pearl. Now wash the world with light and blessings in this way: 11x repeat La Illaha, gently sweeping the head left to right as you say La Illaha over the world; now, feel light coming down through the top of the head and out the 3rd eye like a search light - as you repeat La Illaha you are washing this blessing over the world in light with each repetition of La Illaha.  After 11x, inhale Nur - Wadud (pause and allow the world to become immersed in an infinite ocean of Ligth and Love). This can also be done for countries, states, communities, etc.
3. Offer this Buddhist Blessing:
With the thought of love I contemplate the world, and may this love extend to its four horizons; now with love increasing beyond measure let me encompass the cosmos up to its confines.
With the thought of compassion I contemplate the world, and may this compassion extend to its four horizons; now with compassion increasing beyond measure let me encompass the cosmos up to its confines.
With the thought of joy I contemplate the world, and may this joy extend to its four horizons; now with joy increasing beyond measure let me encompass the whole cosmos up to its confines.
With the thought of peace I contemplate the world, and may this peace extend to its four horizons; now with peace increasing beyond measure let me encompass the whole cosmos up to its confines.
Freedom Day
May we experience the sweet, liberating, joyful freedom of our soul; May we find freedom in love and in love the freedom of complete surrender; May we be given the blessing of release from fear, worry, doubt and suffering and from all ties that bind us to limitation;  May we feel guided and free to follow our purpose in life; May we find the freedom of heart that allows each of us, in our own way, to share our light and love with the world.
The important thing is not to think much, but to love much; and so, do that which best stirs you to love. - Saint Teresa of Avila
How long will you keep pounding on an open door begging for someone to open it? - Rabia al'Adawiyya
If you are seeking closeness to the Beloved, love everyone.  Whether in their presence or absence, see only their good. If you want to be as clear and refreshing as the breath of the morning breeze, like the sun have nothing but warmth and light for everyone. - Abu Said Abil Khair
Oh Light Bearer
Remember oh lover of light... When skies grow dark, every light shines brighter! YOU are a light in the darkness, shining like the Moon.
