Taking things as they come

Being centered in life means neither running toward nor running away but taking all things as they come. Running toward is attachment and running away is aversion.

This is the great repose of being in the moment and it is a manifestation of Peace. In this state we can act rather than react.

Abdul Qadir Jalani said that "we can't avoid nor turn away what is our measure!"  So why run toward it for it will come and why run away for you can't avoid it, yet how we act in the moment makes a difference.  In Yoga this is called detatchment, but it is not indifference!

There is a time for the unfolding of all things, we are all riding upon the cosmic flow of the divine breath of awakening.

We generally learn this lesson only when we are forced into situations that leave us no choice but to accept, tolerate or endure something, or require us to hold back.

All contemplative meditation helps us with this ability to be centered in the moment but Zikr and Zazen are the very best I've personally used.

Ya Sabur is the blessing for divine patience, the great ability to allow all things to unfold in their proper time and sequence.

Ya Salaam - is that peace that is free of all conditioning.
